There are two short duas from Sahih Bukhari that the Prophet ﷺ used when he visited the sick. The first is a few words of comfort. The second is a complete dua for healing.
If you cannot read Arabic yet, use this Roman Urdu pronunciation. Read slowly and try to learn the Arabic over time.
Dua 1 ka tarjuma:
کوئی حرج نہیں، ان شاء اللہ یہ (بیماری گناہوں سے) پاک کرنے والی ہے۔
Dua 2 ka tarjuma:
Dua 1: “No harm. It is a purification, if Allah wills.” The sick person is reminded that the illness, with patience, can wash away sins.
Dua 2: “Take away the harm, O Lord of mankind. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no illness behind.”
The meaning is simple but deep. Medicine and doctors are means, but the cure itself comes only from Allah. Saying this dua helps both the visitor and the patient remember that.
Both duas are recorded in Sahih Bukhari, the most authentic book of hadith:
Visiting the sick is itself a right and a good deed. In Sahih Bukhari 1240 the Prophet ﷺ listed visiting the sick among the five rights of a Muslim over another Muslim. In Sahih Bukhari 5649 he said: “Feed the hungry, visit the sick, and set free the captives.”
The Quran also teaches that healing belongs to Allah alone. Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said, in Surah Ash-Shu’ara 26:80:
وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ
اور جب میں بیمار ہوتا ہوں تو وہی مجھے شفا دیتا ہے۔
English: “And when I am ill, it is He who cures me.”
Read the bimar ki ayadat ki dua when you visit someone who is unwell, at home or in hospital. You can also read it when a sick family member comes to you. A simple way to do the visit:
The bimar ki ayadat ki dua can be read in a low voice so the patient hears it and feels comforted. If you cannot visit in person, a phone call with a sincere dua is still a kind gesture.
Children learn quickly when they see adults practise. Take them along when you visit a grandparent or relative who is unwell, and let them say the short first dua. Dua 1 has only a few words, so it is a good start.
Once they know it, teach the second dua in three parts over a few days. Explain the meaning in simple Urdu so they understand that they are asking Allah to make the person well.

Mareez ki ayadat ki fazilat kya hai?
Sahih Bukhari 1240 ke mutabiq bimar ki ayadat karna ek Muslim ka doosre Muslim par haq hai, aur Sahih Bukhari 5649 mein iska hukm diya gaya hai.
Agar milne na ja saken to kya karein?
