Wazu ke baad ki dua is the short testimony of faith that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to say right after finishing ablution. People also search for it as “wudu ke baad ki dua”, “dua after wudu” or “wuzu ke baad ki dua”. On this page you will find the Arabic text with a copy button, Roman Urdu, Urdu tarjuma, English meaning and the authentic source.
This is the wording reported in Sahih Muslim. Tap the button to copy the Arabic text and share it or save it on your phone.
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
Ashhadu an la ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu.
If you cannot read Arabic yet, the Roman Urdu helps you start. Try to learn the Arabic pronunciation from a teacher or a recitation over time, because the meaning is tied to the Arabic words.
میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، وہ اکیلا ہے، اس کا کوئی شریک نہیں، اور میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ محمد ﷺ اس کے بندے اور اس کے رسول ہیں۔
English meaning: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger.”
Word by word, the dua breaks down like this:
These are the same words as the second kalma (Kalma Shahadat). You can read more about it in our post on the Doosra Kalma Shahadat.
Umar ibn al-Khattab reported that the Prophet ﷺ said that whoever performs wudu and does it well, then says this testimony, the eight gates of Paradise are opened for him and he may enter through whichever he wishes. This is recorded in Sahih Muslim 234; the full wording used above, with “wahdahu la sharika lahu”, is in the second narration (234b).
The same hadith also mentions the virtue of praying two rak’at after wudu with full attention of the heart and face. So the dua and the two rak’at go well together.
Allah praises those who keep themselves clean in Surah Al-Baqarah 2:222:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِينَ وَيُحِبُّ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ
English meaning: “Indeed, Allah loves those who constantly repent and loves those who purify themselves.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:222)
Wudu is not only a routine before salah. The Prophet ﷺ said that the prayer of a person who has broken his wudu is not accepted until he performs ablution again (Sahih Bukhari 135).
He ﷺ also said that on the Day of Resurrection his followers will be called “al-ghurr al-muhajjalun”, shining from the traces of wudu (Sahih Bukhari 136). Saying the dua after a careful wudu completes this act of worship.
Read it once you have finished every step of wudu. In Sahih Bukhari 159, Uthman ibn Affan showed the wudu of the Prophet ﷺ like this:
After the last step, say wazu ke baad ki dua calmly, with attention to its meaning. It is a personal dua, so a normal low voice is enough.
If you have time, pray two rak’at after wudu. Bilal told the Prophet ﷺ that whenever he made wudu, by day or by night, he prayed after it as much as was written for him, and the Prophet ﷺ had heard his footsteps in Paradise (Sahih Bukhari 1149).
Teaching children wazu ke baad ki dua is easy because they often already know the Kalma Shahadat. Practise it with them after each wudu, together with the masjid mein dakhil hone ki dua.
وضو کے بعد کی دعا اس صفحے پر عربی متن، اردو ترجمہ اور رومن اردو کے ساتھ دی گئی ہے۔ عربی متن کاپی کرنے کے لیے اوپر دیا گیا بٹن استعمال کریں۔
Right after you finish the last step of wudu, before you start your salah. You can say it after every wudu, not only before fard prayers.
According to Sahih Muslim 234, the eight gates of Paradise are opened for the person who performs wudu well and then says this testimony, and he may enter from whichever gate he wishes.
Yes, the words are the same as the Kalma Shahadat. The special point here is saying it at the end of wudu, as the Prophet ﷺ taught.
Some books add further words from other narrations. This page keeps to the wording reported in Sahih Muslim, which is enough to gain the reward mentioned in the hadith.
وضو کے بعد کی دعا کب پڑھنی چاہیے؟
