Sahih Bukhari 4984 – English Translation
(The Caliph `Uthman رضی اللہ عنہ ordered Zaid bin Thabit, Sa`id bin Al-As, `Abdullah bin Az-Zubair and `Abdur- Rahman bin Al-Harith bin Hisham رضی اللہ عنہم to write the Qur'an in the form of a book (Mushafs) and said to them. "In case you disagree with Zaid bin Thabit رضی اللہ عنہ (Al-Ansari) regarding any dialectic Arabic utterance of the Qur'an, then write it in the dialect of Quraish, for the Qur'an was revealed in this dialect." So they did it.
Sahih Bukhari 4984 – Urdu Translation
حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ نے زید بن ثابت ، سعید بن عاص ، عبداللہ بن زبیر ، عبدالرحمٰن بن حارث بن ہشام رضی اللہ عنہم کو حکم دیا کہ قرآن مجید کو کتابی شکل میں لکھیں اور فرمایا کہ اگر قرآن کے کسی محاور ے میں تمہارا حضرت زید بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ سے اختلاف ہو تو اس لفظ کو قریش کے محاورہ کے مطابق لکھو ، کیونکہ قرآن ان ہی کے محاورے پر نازل ہوا ہے چنانچہ انہوں نے ایسا ہی کیا ۔
Sahih Bukhari 4984 – Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ فَأَمَرَ عُثْمَانُ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ وَسَعِيدَ بْنَ الْعَاصِ وَعَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ وَعَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ أَنْ يَنْسَخُوهَا، فِي الْمَصَاحِفِ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ إِذَا اخْتَلَفْتُمْ أَنْتُمْ وَزَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ فِي عَرَبِيَّةٍ مِنْ عَرَبِيَّةِ الْقُرْآنِ فَاكْتُبُوهَا بِلِسَانِ قُرَيْشٍ، فَإِنَّ الْقُرْآنَ أُنْزِلَ بِلِسَانِهِمْ فَفَعَلُوا.
