Sahih Bukhari 4759 – English Translation
"When (the Verse): "They should draw their veils over their necks and bosoms," was revealed, (the ladies) cut their waist sheets at the edges and covered their heads and faces with those cut pieces of cloth."
Sahih Bukhari 4759 – Urdu Translation
جب یہ آیت نازل ہوئی «وليضربن بخمرهن على جيوبهن» کہ ”اور اپنے دوپٹے اپنے سینوں پر ڈالے رہا کریں“ تو ( انصار کی عورتوں نے ) اپنے تہبندوں کو دونوں کنارے سے پھاڑ کر ان کی اوڑھنیاں بنا لیں۔

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ كَانَتْ تَقُولُ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ {وَلْيَضْرِبْنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلَى جُيُوبِهِنَّ} أَخَذْنَ أُزْرَهُنَّ فَشَقَّقْنَهَا مِنْ قِبَلِ الْحَوَاشِي فَاخْتَمَرْنَ بِهَا.
