Sahih Bukhari 4530 – English Translation
I said to `Uthman bin `Affan (while he was collecting the Qur'an) regarding the Verse:– "Those of you who die and leave wives …" (2.240) "This Verse was abrogated by an other Verse. So why should you write it? (Or leave it in the Qur'an)?" `Uthman رضی اللہ عنہ said. "O son of my brother! I will not shift anything of it from its place."
Sahih Bukhari 4530 – Urdu Translation
میں نے آیت «والذين يتوفون منكم ويذرون أزواجا» یعنی ”اور تم میں سے جو لوگ وفات پا جاتے ہیں اور بیویاں چھوڑ جاتے ہیں۔“ کے متعلق عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ سے عرض کیا کہ اس آیت کو دوسری آیت نے منسوخ کر دیا ہے۔ اس لیے آپ اسے ( مصحف میں ) نہ لکھیں یا ( یہ کہا کہ ) نہ رہنے دیں۔ اس پر عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ بیٹے! میں ( قرآن کا ) کوئی حرف اس کی جگہ سے نہیں ہٹا سکتا۔
Sahih Bukhari 4530 – Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، قَالَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ قُلْتُ لِعُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ {وَالَّذِينَ يُتَوَفَّوْنَ مِنْكُمْ وَيَذَرُونَ أَزْوَاجًا} قَالَ قَدْ نَسَخَتْهَا الآيَةُ الأُخْرَى فَلِمَ تَكْتُبُهَا أَوْ تَدَعُهَا قَالَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي، لاَ أُغَيِّرُ شَيْئًا مِنْهُ مِنْ مَكَانِهِ.
