Sahih Bukhari 4485 – English Translation
The people of the Scripture (Jews) used to recite the Torah in Hebrew and they used to explain it in Arabic to the Muslims. On that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Do not believe the people of the Scripture or disbelieve them, but say:– "We believe in Allah and what is revealed to us." (2.136)
Sahih Bukhari 4485 – Urdu Translation
اہل کتاب ( یہودی ) توراۃ کو خود عبرانی زبان میں پڑھتے ہیں لیکن مسلمانوں کے لیے اس کی تفسیر عربی میں کرتے ہیں۔ اس پر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”تم اہل کتاب کی نہ تصدیق کرو اور نہ تم تکذیب کرو بلکہ یہ کہا کرو «آمنا بالله وما أنزل إلينا» یعنی ہم ایمان لائے اللہ پر اور اس چیز پر جو ہماری طرف نازل کی گئی ہے۔“

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ كَانَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ يَقْرَءُونَ التَّوْرَاةَ بِالْعِبْرَانِيَّةِ، وَيُفَسِّرُونَهَا بِالْعَرَبِيَّةِ لأَهْلِ الإِسْلاَمِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لاَ تُصَدِّقُوا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ وَلاَ تُكَذِّبُوهُمْ، وَقُولُوا {آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ} الآيَةَ".
