Sahih Bukhari 4142 – English Translation
"Have you heard that `Ali' رضی اللہ عنہ was one of those who slandered `Aisha رضی اللہ عنہا ?" I replied, "No, but two men from your people (named) Abu Salama bin `Abdur-Rahman and Abu Bakr bin `Abdur-Rahman bin Al-Harith have informed me that Aisha رضی اللہ عنہا told them that `Ali رضی اللہ عنہ remained silent about her case."Then the people asked Hisham bin Yusuf (or Zuhri) again. He said the same thing, "مسلما", did not doubt it, did not say the word "مسيئا" and omitted the word "عليه" (that is, Zahri did not answer anything else to Walid and the word "مسلما" was in the old version).
Sahih Bukhari 4142 – Urdu Translation
کیا تم کو معلوم ہے کہ علی رضی اللہ عنہ بھی عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا پر تہمت لگانے والوں میں تھے؟ میں نے کہا کہ نہیں ‘ البتہ تمہاری قوم ( قریش ) کے دو آدمیوں ابوسلمہ بن عبدالرحمٰن اور ابوبکر بن عبدالرحمٰن بن حارث نے مجھے خبر دی کہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے ان سے کہا کہ علی رضی اللہ عنہ ان کے معاملے میں خاموش تھے۔ پھر لوگوں نے ہشام بن یوسف ( یا زہری ) سے دوبارہ پوچھا۔ انہوں نے یہی کہا «مسلما» اس میں شک نہ کیا «مسيئا» کا لفظ نہیں کہا اور «عليه» کا لفظ زیاوہ کیا ( یعنی زہری نے ولید کو اور کچھ جواب نہیں دیا اور پرانے نسخہ میں «مسلما» کا لفظ تھا ) ۔

حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ أَمْلَى عَلَىَّ هِشَامُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ مِنْ حِفْظِهِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ لِي الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ أَبَلَغَكَ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا، كَانَ فِيمَنْ قَذَفَ عَائِشَةَ قُلْتُ لاَ. وَلَكِنْ قَدْ أَخْبَرَنِي رَجُلاَنِ مِنْ قَوْمِكِ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ قَالَتْ لَهُمَا كَانَ عَلِيٌّ مُسَلِّمًا فِي شَأْنِهَا. فَرَاجَعُوهُ فَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ وَقَالَ مُسَلِّمًا بِلَا شَكٍّ فِيهِ وَعَلَيْهِ كَانَ فِي أَصْلِ الْعَتِيقِ كَذَلِكَ
