Sahih Bukhari 3997 – English Translation
Abu Sa`id bin Malik Al-Khudri رضی اللہ عنہ returned from a journey and his family offered him some meat of sacrifices offered at `Id ul Adha. On that he said, "I will not eat it before asking (whether it is allowed)." He went to his maternal brother, Qatada bin Ni 'man رضی اللہ عنہ , who was one of the Badr warriors, and asked him about it. Qatada رضی اللہ عنہ said, "After your departure, an order was issued by the Prophet (ﷺ) cancelling the prohibition of eating sacrifices after three days."

ابوسعید بن مالک خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سفر سے واپس آئے تو ان کے گھر والے قربانی کا گوشت ان کے سامنے لائے، انہوں نے کہا کہ میں اسے اس وقت تک نہیں کھاؤں گا جب تک اس کا حکم نہ معلوم کر لوں۔ چنانچہ وہ اپنی والدہ کی طرف سے اپنے ایک بھائی کے پاس معلوم کرنے گئے۔ وہ بدر کی لڑائی میں شریک ہونے والوں میں سے تھے یعنی قتادہ بن نعمان رضی اللہ عنہ۔ انہوں نے بتایا کہ بعد میں وہ حکم منسوخ کر دیا گیا تھا جس میں تین دن سے زیادہ قربانی کا گوشت کھانے کی ممانعت کی گئی تھی۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ خَبَّابٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَدِمَ مِنْ سَفَرٍ، فَقَدَّمَ إِلَيْهِ أَهْلُهُ لَحْمًا مِنْ لُحُومِ الأَضْحَى فَقَالَ مَا أَنَا بِآكِلِهِ حَتَّى أَسْأَلَ، فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَى أَخِيهِ لأُمِّهِ وَكَانَ بَدْرِيًّا قَتَادَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ فَسَأَلَهُ، فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ حَدَثَ بَعْدَكَ أَمْرٌ نَقْضٌ لِمَا كَانُوا يُنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ مِنْ أَكْلِ لُحُومِ الأَضْحَى بَعْدَ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ.
