Sahih Bukhari 3993 – English Translation
Rifa`a رضی اللہ عنہ was one of the warriors of Badr while (his father) Rafi` رضی اللہ عنہ was one of the people of Al-`Aqaba (i.e. those who gave the pledge of allegiance at Al-`Aqaba). Rafi` used to say to his son, "I would not have been happier if I had taken part in the Badr battle instead of taking part in the 'Aqaba pledge." He would say that Hadrat Gibriel علیہ السلام asked the prophet ﷺ about it. As is mentioned above.

رفاعہ رضی اللہ عنہ بدر کی لڑائی میں شریک ہوئے تھے اور ( ان کے والد ) رافع رضی اللہ عنہ بیعت عقبہ میں شریک ہوئے تھے تو آپ اپنے بیٹے ( رفاعہ ) سے کہا کرتے تھے کہ بیعت عقبہ کے برابر بدر کی شرکت سے مجھے زیادہ خوشی نہیں ہے۔ بیان کیا کہ جبرائیل علیہ السلام نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اس بارے میں پوچھا تھا۔

حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ،، وَكَانَ، رِفَاعَةُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ، وَكَانَ رَافِعٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعَقَبَةِ، فَكَانَ يَقُولُ لاِبْنِهِ مَا يَسُرُّنِي أَنِّي شَهِدْتُ بَدْرًا بِالْعَقَبَةِ قَالَ سَأَلَ جِبْرِيلُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم. بِهَذَا.
