Sahih Bukhari 3657 – English Translation
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If I were to take a Khalil, I would have taken him (i.e. Abu Bakr) as a Khalil, but the Islamic brotherhood is better."
Sahih Bukhari 3657 – Urdu Translation
ہم سے معلیٰ بن اسد اور موسیٰ نے بیان کیا ، کہا کہ ہم سے وہیب نے بیان کیا ، ان سے ایوب نے ( یہی روایت ) کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ اگر میں کسی کو جانی دوست بنا سکتا تو ابوبکر کو بناتا ۔ لیکن اسلام کا بھائی چارہ کیا کم ہے ۔

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَلَّى، وَمُوسَى، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، وَقَالَ، " لَوْ كُنْتُ مُتَّخِذًا خَلِيلاً لاَتَّخَذْتُهُ خَلِيلاً، وَلَكِنْ أُخُوَّةُ الإِسْلاَمِ أَفْضَلُ ". حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، مِثْلَهُ.
