Sahih Bukhari 3655 – English Translation
We used to compare the people as to who was better during the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . We used to regard Abu Bakr رضی اللہ عنہ as the best, then `Umar رضی اللہ عنہ, and then `Uthman .

نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے زمانہ ہی میں جب ہمیں صحابہ کے درمیان انتخاب کے لیے کہا جاتا تو سب میں افضل اور بہتر ہم ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کو قرار دیتے ، پھر عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ کو پھر عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ عنہ کو ۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ كُنَّا نُخَيِّرُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ فِي زَمَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَنُخَيِّرُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ، ثُمَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، ثُمَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ رضى الله عنهم.
