Sahih Bukhari 3047 – English Translation
I asked `Ali رضی اللہ عنہ , "Do you have the knowledge of any Divine Inspiration besides what is in Allah's Book?" `Ali رضی اللہ عنہ replied, "No, by Him Who splits the grain of corn and creates the soul. I don't think we have such knowledge, but we have the ability of understanding which Allah may endow a person with, so that he may understand the Qur'an, and we have what is written in this paper as well." I asked, "What is written in this paper?" He replied, "(The regulations of) blood-money, the freeing of captives, and the judgment that no Muslim should be killed for killing an infidel."
Sahih Bukhari 3047 – Urdu Translation
میں نے حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا ‘ آپ حضرات ( اہل بیت ) کے پاس کتاب اللہ کے سوا اور بھی کوئی وحی ہے ؟ آپ نے اس کا جواب دیا ۔ اس ذات کی قسم ! جس نے دانے کو ( زمین ) چیر کر ( نکالا ) اور جس نے روح کو پیدا کیا ‘ مجھے تو کوئی ایسی وحی معلوم نہیں ( جو قرآن میں نہ ہو ) البتہ سمجھ ایک دوسری چیز ہے ‘ جو اللہ کسی بندے کو قرآن میں عطا فرمائے ( قرآن سے طرح طرح کے مطالب نکالے ) یا جو اس ورق میں ہے ۔ میں نے پوچھا ‘ اس ورق میں کیا لکھا ہے ؟ انہوں نے بتلایا کہ دیت کے احکام اور قیدی کا چھڑانا اور مسلمان کا کافر کے بدلے میں نہ مارا جانا ‘ ( یہ مسائل اس ورق میں لکھے ہوئے ہیں اور بس ) ۔

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مُطَرِّفٌ، أَنَّ عَامِرًا، حَدَّثَهُمْ عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِعَلِيٍّ ـ رضى الله عنه هَلْ عِنْدَكُمْ شَىْءٌ مِنَ الْوَحْىِ إِلاَّ مَا فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ قَالَ وَالَّذِي فَلَقَ الْحَبَّةَ وَبَرَأَ النَّسَمَةَ مَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلاَّ فَهْمًا يُعْطِيهِ اللَّهُ رَجُلاً فِي الْقُرْآنِ، وَمَا فِي هَذِهِ الصَّحِيفَةِ. قُلْتُ وَمَا فِي الصَّحِيفَةِ قَالَ الْعَقْلُ وَفَكَاكُ الأَسِيرِ، وَأَنْ لاَ يُقْتَلَ مُسْلِمٌ بِكَافِرٍ.
