Sahih Bukhari 2741 – English Translation
In the presence of `Aisha رضی اللہ عنہا some people mentioned that the Prophet (ﷺ) had appointed `Ali رضی اللہ عنہ by will as his successor. `Aisha رضی اللہ عنہا said, "When did he appoint him by will? Verily when he died he was resting against my chest (or said: in my lap) and he asked for a wash-basin and then collapsed while in that state, and I could not even perceive that he had died, so when did he appoint him by will?"
Sahih Bukhari 2741 – Urdu Translation
عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے یہاں کچھ لوگوں نے ذکر کیا کہ علی رضی اللہ عنہ ( نبی اکرم کے ) وصی تھے تو آپ نے کہا کہ کب انہیں وصی بنایا ۔ میں تو آپ کے وصال کے وقت سرمبارک اپنے سینے پر یا انہوں نے ( بجائے سینے کے ) کہا کہ اپنے گود میں رکھے ہوئے تھی پھر آپ نے ( پانی کا ) طشت منگوایا تھا کہ اتنے میں ( سرمبارک ) میری گود میں جھک گیا اور میں سمجھ نہ سکی کہ آپ کی وفات ہو چکی ہے تو آپ نے علی رضی اللہ عنہ کو وصی کب بنایا ۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ، قَالَ ذَكَرُوا عِنْدَ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ كَانَ وَصِيًّا. فَقَالَتْ مَتَى أَوْصَى إِلَيْهِ وَقَدْ كُنْتُ مُسْنِدَتَهُ إِلَى صَدْرِي ـ أَوْ قَالَتْ حَجْرِي ـ فَدَعَا بِالطَّسْتِ، فَلَقَدِ انْخَنَثَ فِي حَجْرِي، فَمَا شَعَرْتُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ مَاتَ، فَمَتَى أَوْصَى إِلَيْهِ
