Sahih Bukhari 1116 – English Translation
"I asked the Prophet (ﷺ) about the prayer of a person while sitting. He said, 'It is better for one to pray standing; and whoever prays sitting gets half the reward of that who prays while standing; and whoever prays while Lying gets half the reward of that who prays while sitting.' "
Abu Abdullah Bukhari said: In my views, here "نَائِمًا" means to lie down.
Sahih Bukhari 1116 – Urdu Translation
میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھنے کے بارے میں پوچھا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھنا افضل ہے لیکن اگر کوئی بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھے تو کھڑے ہو کر پڑھنے والے سے اسے آدھا ثواب ملے گا اور لیٹ کر پڑھنے والے کو بیٹھ کر پڑھنے والے سے آدھا ثواب ملے گا ۔
ابوعبداللہ ( حضرت امام بخاری رحمہ اللہ ) فرماتے ہیں کہ حدیث کے الفاظ میں «نائم» «مضطجع» کے معنی میں ہے یعنی لیٹ کر نماز پڑھنے والا ۔

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْمُعَلِّمُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، أَنَّ عِمْرَانَ بْنَ حُصَيْنٍ ـ وَكَانَ رَجُلاً مَبْسُورًا ـ وَقَالَ أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ مَرَّةً عَنْ عِمْرَانَ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنْ صَلاَةِ الرَّجُلِ وَهْوَ قَاعِدٌ فَقَالَ " مَنْ صَلَّى قَائِمًا فَهْوَ أَفْضَلُ، وَمَنْ صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَلَهُ نِصْفُ أَجْرِ الْقَائِمِ، وَمَنْ صَلَّى نَائِمًا فَلَهُ نِصْفُ أَجْرِ الْقَاعِدِ ". قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ نَائِمًا عِنْدِي مُضْطَجِعًا هَا هُنَا.
