Nazar Ki Dua in Arabic (From Sahih Bukhari)
The Prophet ﷺ used these words to seek protection for his grandsons Al-Hasan and Al-Husain, and he said that Prophet Ibrahim used to seek protection for Ismail and Ishaq with the same words. This dua names the evil eye directly, which is why it is the best-known nazar ki dua.
أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ

Surah Falaq and Surah Nas: The Quran’s Nazar Ki Dua
The last two surahs of the Quran are called Al-Mu’awwidhatain, “the two chapters of seeking refuge”. Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported that the Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge from the jinn and from the evil eye of people until these two surahs were revealed; after that he used them and left other words (Jami at-Tirmidhi 2058).

The last verse, about the envier, is the reason many people read Surah Falaq as a nazar ki dua: the harmful look usually comes from envy.

Is Nazar Real? What the Hadith Says
Yes. The Prophet ﷺ said, “The evil eye is true” (Sahih Bukhari 5740). Aisha reported that the Prophet ﷺ told her, or someone else, to use ruqyah (recitation for healing) against the evil eye (Sahih Bukhari 5738).
So a Muslim does not need to fear nazar or blame every problem on it. The Sunnah is simple: say Mashallah when you admire something, and read the protective words that the Prophet ﷺ taught.
When and How to Read Nazar Ki Dua
- Morning and evening: The Prophet ﷺ told Abdullah bin Khubaib to recite Qul Huwallahu Ahad and the two Mu’awwidhatain three times in the evening and morning, saying they would suffice him against everything (Sunan Abu Dawood 5082).
- Before sleeping: Every night the Prophet ﷺ recited Surah Ikhlas, Surah Falaq and Surah Nas, blew into his cupped hands and wiped over his body, starting with his head and face, three times (Sahih Bukhari 5017).
- For children: Parents can recite the Bukhari nazar ki dua over their children, as the Prophet ﷺ did for his grandsons.
- When someone is affected: Read Surah Falaq, Surah Nas and the dua above with sincerity, and make your own dua for shifa in any language.
Common Mistakes With Nazar Ki Dua
- Using amulets or threads instead of dua. Protection comes from Allah alone; the authentic way is recitation and dua.
- Rushing the Arabic. Read slowly and pronounce “‘ain” in ‘ainin lammah clearly. Use the Roman Urdu line if you are still learning.
- Adding fixed counts that are not in the sources. The three-times practice above is from the hadith; extra numbers are not required.
- Blaming nazar for everything. Keep trust in Allah and take normal practical steps, such as seeing a doctor when someone is ill.
