Doosra Kalma, also called Kalma Shahadat (the Testimony), is the second of the six kalmas taught to Muslim children in Pakistan and India. Some people spell it Dusra or Dosra Kalma. Below you can read Doosra Kalma in Arabic, copy it with one tap, and learn its Roman Urdu pronunciation, Urdu tarjuma, English meaning and the hadith about reciting it after wudu.
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَّا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُوْلُهُ
Roman Urdu: Ash-hadu al-lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahū lā sharīka lahū wa ash-hadu anna Muḥammadan ʿabduhū wa rasūluh.
English: I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah. He is One and has no partner. And I bear witness that Muhammad ﷺ is His servant and His Messenger.
Urdu tarjuma:
میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، وہ اکیلا ہے، اس کا کوئی شریک نہیں، اور میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ حضرت محمد ﷺ اس کے بندے اور رسول ہیں۔
Learning the meaning of each word makes this kalma much easier to understand and remember:
| Word | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Ash-hadu (أَشْهَدُ) | I bear witness / I testify |
| an lā ilāha (أَنْ لَّا إِلٰهَ) | that there is no god |
| illallāhu (إِلَّا اللّٰهُ) | except Allah |
| waḥdahū (وَحْدَهُ) | He is alone, One |
| lā sharīka lahū (لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ) | He has no partner |
| wa ash-hadu anna Muḥammadan (وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا) | and I bear witness that Muhammad ﷺ |
| ʿabduhū wa rasūluh (عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُوْلُهُ) | is His servant and His Messenger |
Uqbah bin Amir reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: whoever performs wudu well and then says, “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, without partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger,” the eight gates of Paradise will be opened for him, to enter by whichever he wishes.
Reference: Sahih Muslim 234
This is why many parents teach this kalma together with wudu: the child finishes washing and then recites the testimony, building a habit for life.
Every Muslim already recites the words of Kalma Shahadat several times a day. At the end of At-Tahiyyat in the sitting position of salah, we say “Ash-hadu al-lā ilāha illallāhu wa ash-hadu anna Muḥammadan ʿabduhū wa rasūluh”, which is almost the same wording. So when you learn the doosra kalma, you are also learning an important part of your prayer.
Allah Himself bears witness to His oneness in Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:18:
شَهِدَ اللَّهُ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ
English: Allah bears witness that there is no deity except Him.

Isay kisi bhi waqt parh sakte hain. Sahih Muslim 234 mein khaas taur par wudu ke baad parhne ka zikr hai.
Pehla Kalma aqeeda bayan karta hai. Doosra usi ko apni gawahi (“main gawahi deta hoon”) ke taur par kehta hai, aur yeh bhi kehta hai ke Allah ka koi shareek nahi aur Muhammad ﷺ Allah ke bande aur Rasool hain.
