Bait ul Khala Jane Ki Dua in Arabic

This is the dua to say just before you step into the toilet or bathroom. It is only one line, so even young children can learn it in a day.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

Roman Urdu

Allahumma inni a’oozu bika minal khubusi wal khaba’is.

Urdu Tarjuma

اے اللہ! میں ناپاک جنوں اور ناپاک جنیوں سے (یعنی ہر قسم کی خباثت اور گندگی سے) تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں۔

English Meaning

“O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female evil ones (and from all that is evil and impure).”

Bait ul Khala se Nikalne Ki Dua (Ghufranaka)

When you come out of the toilet, the Sunnah is to say one word asking Allah for forgiveness.

غُفْرَانَكَ

Roman Urdu: Ghufranaka.

(اے اللہ!) میں تجھ سے بخشش مانگتا ہوں۔

English meaning: “(O Allah,) I ask You for Your forgiveness.”

Word-by-Word Meaning

Knowing what each word means helps you say the dua with attention instead of just repeating sounds.

  • Allahumma (اللَّهُمَّ) – O Allah
  • Inni (إِنِّي) – indeed I
  • A’oozu (أَعُوذُ) – seek refuge / protection
  • Bika (بِكَ) – in You
  • Minal (مِنَ الْ) – from the
  • Khubusi (الْخُبُثِ) – male evil ones; also explained as evil in general
  • Wal khaba’is (وَالْخَبَائِثِ) – and the female evil ones; also explained as impure and wicked things
  • Ghufranaka (غُفْرَانَكَ) – (I ask) Your forgiveness

Scholars have explained “al-khubus wal-khaba’is” both as male and female devils and as everything evil and filthy. Both meanings fit a place of impurity, which is why we seek Allah’s protection before entering.

Source of Bait ul Khala Jane Ki Dua in Hadith and Quran

Anas bin Malik reported that whenever the Prophet ﷺ entered the toilet, he said: “Allahumma inni a’oozu bika minal khubusi wal khaba’is.” This is recorded in Sahih Bukhari 142 and also in Sahih Muslim 375.

Aishah reported that when the Prophet ﷺ came out of the toilet, he said “Ghufranaka”. This is recorded in Sunan Abu Dawood 30 and Jami at-Tirmidhi 7, and scholars of hadith have graded it authentic.

Cleanliness itself is something Allah loves. In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah says:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِينَ وَيُحِبُّ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ

بے شک اللہ توبہ کرنے والوں کو پسند کرتا ہے اور پاک صاف رہنے والوں کو پسند کرتا ہے۔

“Indeed, Allah loves those who constantly repent and loves those who purify themselves.” (Quran 2:222)

When and How to Read Bait ul Khala Jane Ki Dua

The timing matters, because the dua is meant to be said before you are inside. A simple routine:

  1. Stop at the door and read bait ul khala jane ki dua while you are still outside.
  2. Enter with the left foot. Many scholars recommend this, as the right side is kept for honourable actions.
  3. Do not recite Quran, dhikr or long conversations inside the toilet. Scholars advise remaining quiet there.
  4. Clean yourself well and wash your hands.
  5. Step out with the right foot and say “Ghufranaka”.

In a modern home where the bathroom and toilet are in one room, read the dua before entering the room. If you are in an open place, read it before you uncover yourself.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Reading the dua after entering. The words are a request for protection, so say them at the door, not inside.
  • Mixing up the two duas. The long dua is for going in; the single word “Ghufranaka” is for coming out.
  • Rushing the words. Learn “khubusi” and “khaba’is” slowly from the Arabic text above so the meaning is not lost.
  • Thinking the dua is only for children. The Prophet ﷺ said it himself every time, so it is a lifelong Sunnah.

Teaching Bait ul Khala Jane Ki Dua to Children

Children learn toilet manners early, so this is the best age to add the dua. Stick a small card with the Arabic and Roman Urdu next to the bathroom door at child height.

Praise them every time they remember it. Within a week or two, saying bait ul khala jane ki dua at the door becomes a habit, and the same goes for “Ghufranaka” on the way out.
