عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ: خَطَبَنَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يَوْمًا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى غَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ، وَبَدَتِ النُّجُومُ، وَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَقُولُونَ: الصَّلَاةَ، الصَّلَاةَ، فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ، فَلَمْ يَتَرَاخَ وَلَا تَوَلَّى، وَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ: الصَّلَاةَ، الصَّلَاةَ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: أَتُعَلِّمُنِي السُّنَّةَ؟ لَا أُمَّ لَكَ! ثُمَّ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ جَمَعَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ، وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ. قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَقِيقٍ: فَحَاكَ فِي صَدْرِي مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْءٌ، فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَصَدَّقَ قَوْلَهُ.

📖 English Translation

Abdullah b. Shaqiq reported: Ibn ‘Abbas one day addressed us in the afternoon (after the Asr prayer) until the sun disappeared and the stars appeared. People began saying, “Prayer! Prayer!” A man from the tribe of Banu Tamim came and persistently reminded him, “Prayer! Prayer!” without delay or turning away.

Ibn ‘Abbas then responded, “Are you teaching me Sunnah? May you be deprived of your mother!” He continued, “I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) combining the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers.”

Abdullah b. Shaqiq said: “I had some doubt about this, so I went to Abu Huraira and asked him about it, and he confirmed what Ibn Abbas had said.”

📜 اردو ترجمہ

عبداللہ بن شقیق بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ایک دن ابن عباسؓ نے عصر کے بعد ہمیں خطاب دیا یہاں تک کہ سورج غروب ہو گیا اور ستارے چمکنے لگے۔ لوگوں نے کہا: “نماز! نماز!”


ایک شخص قبیلہ بنی تمیم سے آیا اور بغیر کسی توقف کے کہنے لگا: “نماز! نماز!”


ابن عباسؓ نے جواب دیا: “کیا تم مجھے سنت سکھا رہے ہو؟ تمہاری ماں تمہیں کھو دے!”


پھر انہوں نے فرمایا: “میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو دیکھا کہ آپ نے ظہر اور عصر، اور مغرب اور عشاء کی نمازیں جمع کر کے ادا کیں۔”


عبداللہ بن شقیق کہتے ہیں: “مجھے اس بارے میں کچھ شبہ ہوا، اس لیے میں نے ابو ہریرہؓ سے دریافت کیا، اور انہوں نے بھی ابن عباسؓ کے قول کی تصدیق کی۔”
